What a whirlwind the past few months have been. One day I was celebrating my bridal shower, I blinked, and just like that, our wedding day came and went! One bout of plague-like sickness later, it's Christmastime (my second favorite holiday).
I cannot tell you how fast the time goes in the 2 months before your wedding. The best word to describe it is insanity. It is a stressful, yet oddly blissful type of insanity, but it is insanity no less.
Our wedding took place on Halloween, and if you were down here, you know how rainy of a day that was! (And by rain, I mean torrential downpour during our ceremony...) But we didn't let that spoil our fun! In fact, we even made the news for Second Lining in the pouring rain with Kinfolk Brass Band! (Thanks for capturing the moment for us, WWLTV!)
The whole day is somewhat of a blur to me, yet time seemed to pass slow enough that I remember most of it (as if that makes any sense at all, Casey...). While bits and pieces are slightly muddled from the stress of the day, I can truly remember how wonderful all of the details came together...and for someone as obsessed with details as I am, that was a huge deal! From the bridesmaids' and my mini top hats, to the groomsmen skeleton hand boutonnieres, and our AH-MAZING cake by Chez Ru Rene Bakery, I was so happy that (almost) everything went to plan- at least when it came to the details. I can't wait to recap everything with you all, and to share some of the ideas that I've kept under wraps for months!
While the day was not without it's snags and disappointments (including the weather), it was still the most awesome day- and I'm not the only one who thought so. I still have guests telling me that our wedding was the best wedding they had ever been to. Talk about a compliment!
If I can give the future brides out there any bit of advice, it would be to do whatever makes your heart happy. Don't be afraid to include your favorite hobbies, TV shows, books, or pets in your day! Make the day truly about you and your husband-to-be by including what you both love. It will make all the difference in the end!
For me, while the whole day was special, there was one part that really just made the day for me- and I'm sure you can guess it- our pups serving as our ring bearers. From our Great Pyrenees, Duke, puking during my vows, to our Siberian Husky, White Fang, trotting proudly next to me getting soaked during our Second Line, their presence truly made an already special day that much more meaningful. I couldn't be more proud of them and how they behaved, nor more grateful that we were able to share such an important day with them. It will truly be something that we will both carry with us for the rest of our lives!
I can't wait to get our pictures back so I can share the details of our day better! But until then, here's a link to the video! And also, stay tuned for much, much more blogging on my part. Now that the wedding is over, I've got some big plans heading this way, and I am so excited to share them with you!
Until next time,
-The Newly NOLA Bride
