I love gift giving. Honestly, I love gift giving more than gift getting...or receiving, for you grammar police out there. To me, there are few things more special than taking the time to find the perfect gift for someone I care about. A gift that is personalized, heartfelt. And no, I don't mean personalized, like an inscription- though that's super fun! But something personalized in the sense that it is meant for that person and that you really put an effort into thinking about them, to show them you care. Something that makes the gift "getter" say, "Wow, you know me so well!."
A lot of times, the gifts that I give are handmade, or personally put together. Sometimes, it's something I purchased with that person's tastes in mind. But every time its something that comes from the heart, with the goal of making that that someone feel special.
When it comes to weddings, it can be a little bit harder to hone in on the perfect gift; especially if you're closer to one than the other. If I'm shopping for a wedding gift, I'll try to think of something that they both could enjoy together, while keeping in mind what makes them unique as a couple. For my friend's wedding last October, we sent them a wine box beforehand, that had three different bottles of wine, each crated separately, that was to be opened on certain anniversaries. It was perfect because not only are they avid wine drinkers, but we were able to put inscriptions on each crate for them to read upon opening. Then, at the actual wedding, we gave them a Christmas ornament that I had handmade out of their wedding invitation (which came out great, and I will be recreating for a wedding DIY post soon).
When I'm shopping for the individual, I tend to take a slightly different approach to personalization. What do they like? Is there something they've been hinting toward? What do they do for a living? Is there something I can get them that would be practical and fun for them to use in everyday life? Maybe something that they wouldn't normally splurge on themselves, but would L.O.V.E the crap out of? Narrowing it down isn't always easy; especially if that person is hard to shop for, or already has everything! Sometimes, shopping for a "big occasion" gift (re: wedding) can be a daunting task.
That's why I'm so excited to have partnered with Jord to bring you a first hand review of their unique, eco-friendly, fashionable wood watches. And, let me tell you, I'm impressed. These watches are well-made, distinct, classic, and would make a fabulous gift for your favorite bride-to-be!
Jord Wood watches
The first thing you should know is that Jord wood watches are eco-friendly, making them an ideal gift for gals who covet naturally made products. Jord uses natural and sustainably sourced wood from all over the world, including sandalwood, cherry, bamboo, rosewood, ebony, and maple wood. No harsh chemicals are used to treat the wood, which is great news for anyone with sensitive skin or allergies!
Another great feature? Jord offers custom sizing for each of their watches. Simply download their sizing form and tell them the circumference of your wrist in centimeters. You'll get your perfect size sent directly to you with no hassle and no unnecessary trips to the jeweler! Jord also sends you extra links in case of sizing issues, so you're covered for the future.
I'm wearing the Fieldcrest Series in Maple, and it compliments my engagement ring stunningly. It is a classic, mid-size watch, so it's not too bulky and is comfortable to wear. I love how the wood grain is so intricately displayed on the watch face!
The great part about the Fieldcrest is that it compliments almost any outfit. After nursing school a few years ago, I stopped wearing watches as fashion accessories due to my constant hand washing. Coupled with the accessibility of smart phones, it took me a while to incorporate them back in to my daily outfits. The Fieldcrest is an exception to this rule as it has quickly become a staple piece in my wardrobe! Jord watches can easily be dressed up or down, making them wonderfully versatile.
Another great feature is that, while Jord watches are not intended to be fully submerged, they are water resistant and "splash proof." I felt safe enough taking mine on an adventure to Lake Pontchartrain!
I also really love the push button, stainless-steel clasp that makes putting on and taking off the watch a breeze. Not to mention, it is splendidly lightweight, making it an ideal, non-bulking accessory in the Louisiana heat!
To me, the Fieldcrest watch is a perfectly personalized bridal gift for both fashionable and eco-friendly brides. It could also be given as a "Thank you for being my bridesmaid" gift from the bride herself. And if you're looking for something a little different, there are plenty of other options available on the Jord website. Some watch series even include Swarovski crystal accents and sapphire crystal watch faces. Not to mention, there plenty of handsome and distinct watches for guys, too!
In this bride's humble opinion, Jord creates expertly-made and fashionably unique wood watches that come wholeheartedly recommended. You can check out all of Jord's selection of watches here, and you can checkout the Fieldcrest in Maple series here. Happy gift shopping!
Until next time,
