Pet Lovers, UNITE! (Pet-Friendly Wedding Round-Up)

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm pretty obsessed with creatures of the four-legged variety.  Especially when it involves including them in weddings.  All the feels!  My own dogs were our ring bearers and were a huge part of our day---- it literally was the Best. Decision. Ever.  Well, you know, aside from marrying my husband, I guess.  ;)

But seriously, I couldn't (and wouldn't) have had my day without them.  And since most of the inquiries I get brides-to-be regard asking how exactly to pull off having their pets in the wedding, I (finally) figured out that having a weekly, furbaby-friendly, wedding round-up would pretty much be the Best. Idea. Ever.

Bonus points that I just happen to love it so friggin much.

So, each week, I'll be posting my findings from the lovely interwebs of all the amazing pet-friendly weddings I can find.  Pup ring bearer?  Horse officiant (kidding...kind of)?  Yes. Yes. YAHHS.

Plus, I'll add in some tips and tricks along the way on how exactly to navigate this awesome, puppy loving adventure you're on (step one: choose a venue that allows it...).  Cheers to your best friend being a part of your best day ever!

Okay, let's get to the furbaby lovin', shall we?

Can we please talk about how adorable that tie is?  And- side note- strapping a Go-Pro camera on your baby to get a "pup's eye view" of the wedding day is genius.  |  Photo by Morning Wild Photography via The Offbeat Bride

Double-Puppy Love in Maine

A few shots from this ridiculously awesome, thrifted, pup-filled, Maine wedding!  I love the shots in this gallery, and the fact that the bride and groom's main philosophy was to not make the wedding about money, but about their relationship.  Words to live by, people.

As always, working out some dance lessons for your pup before the big day can make for some awesome photo ops. ;)  |  Photo by Ryan Eyestone via Rock n' Roll Bride

A (Dog) Fashion-Forward Wedding

A pups-in dresses, sweetly-intimate wedding at 29 Palms Inn by Joshua Tree National Park.  Such a gorgeous setting!

There you have it! I hope this round-up gave you some ideas on how to execute a pup-friendly wedding.

Just remember, while it's easy to get caught up planning the fun parts of a pet-inclusive wedding (outfits, photo-ops, etc.), ensuring your pet's safety and well-being should be first and foremost on your agenda. With an event as big as a wedding, preparation is always key. You can start with these three items:

  • Environment- make sure the venue or setting where your wedding is taking place is conducive to animals, and that they'll be comfortable.
  • Health- plan to have enough (even extra) supplies, like food, water, treats, and toys for your pet.
  • Supervision- designate someone (responsible) to be in-charge of/watch over your pet so that there is absolutely no opportunity for him to get lost, hurt, or worse.

Covering these basic areas will help you lay a solid foundation for avoiding mishaps on the big day, so get them figured out early. You're furbaby will thank you!
