New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

The Jaxson on the River

In honor of all you venue-searching brides, I thought I'd devote today's Wedding Wednesday to a venue review!  This post could really be titled Venue with a View: Part Deux, considering the location, which is- you guessed it- right next door to Pat O's on the River (check out my Patty O's review here).  As I've said before, this is an ideal location for brides in search of a riverfront, French Quarter location.  The views of the Mississippi and Jackson Square are unrivaled!

The Venue

The Jaxson on the River is a venue that I like to call a 'diamond in the rough.'  The space looks like it has amazing potential, however, it's hard to get a real feel for the place because it is still under construction.  Located at 620 Decatur Street (Unit 2B), the venue has a wide open floor plan with views of both Decatur Street and the Mississippi River.  Upon entering, the room opens up into a large, ballroom-esque space that stretches from the river dining room facing the Mississippi to the parlor dining room facing Decatur.  There is a large bar near the middle of the room, facing opposite a space that will be the foyer and sitting area complete lounge furniture.  There will also be a large room off of the parlor dining area that will be utilized as the bridal suite during wedding events.  A nice feature that the Jaxson will offer is a moveable room divider that will make the space more intimate for smaller events.

WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Venue With A View

WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Venue With A View

Happy 'Day after Twelfth Night,' everyone!  I have been hard at work trying to get this blog on its proverbial feet, and the day of my first official vendor review is (finally) here.  This post will also commence my very first 'Wedding Wednesday,' which will be the set day I routinely post new vendor reviews and general information pertaining to NOLA brides!  Today's vendor review is a venue report about the charming Pat O's on the River, which was one of the first venues that I looked into.  I absolutely fell in love with the location and the authentic French-European decor that styles the venue.  I was also blown away by how inclusive the wedding package was.  For brides in search of a riverfront, French Quarter location with comprehensive packaging and a venue with beautiful decor, Pat O's on the River might be just what you're looking for! Happy New Year and Happy Twelfth Night!!

Happy New Year, everyone!  I hope the holidays treated you well! First and foremost, I apologize for the delay in the blog.  This year, holiday celebrations included a lot of travel for my family and myself.  However, it's 2015 and I'm back at it!  And I am super excited to celebrate my very first Twelfth Night this evening!

For those of you wanting a little more information, Twelfth Night is observed by New Orleanians as both the official end of the Christmas season and beginning of Carnival Season.  Twelfth Night (January 6th) has different meanings around the world, but here in New Orleans, it is reserved for taking down Christmas decorations, digging into some King Cake, and celebrating the beginning of Mardi Gras, which will continue until Fat Tuesday (February 17th this year)!  Kicking off the celebration is the annual Joan of Arc parade by the Krewe of Jeanne d'Arc.  The Krewe will begin their parade at 6:00 p.m. tonight, starting at The Jax Brewery on the corner of Touloose and Decatur.  If you anywhere near the New Orleans area, be sure to check out some of the events scheduled for this Mardi Gras season!  As I am beginning to learn, there is no after-New Year's holiday let-down in this city; New Orleans continues right along with Carnival season, curbing any post-holiday craving!
