Happy New Year and Happy Twelfth Night!!

Happy New Year, everyone!  I hope the holidays treated you well! First and foremost, I apologize for the delay in the blog.  This year, holiday celebrations included a lot of travel for my family and myself.  However, it's 2015 and I'm back at it!  And I am super excited to celebrate my very first Twelfth Night this evening!

For those of you wanting a little more information, Twelfth Night is observed by New Orleanians as both the official end of the Christmas season and beginning of Carnival Season.  Twelfth Night (January 6th) has different meanings around the world, but here in New Orleans, it is reserved for taking down Christmas decorations, digging into some King Cake, and celebrating the beginning of Mardi Gras, which will continue until Fat Tuesday (February 17th this year)!  Kicking off the celebration is the annual Joan of Arc parade by the Krewe of Jeanne d'Arc.  The Krewe will begin their parade at 6:00 p.m. tonight, starting at The Jax Brewery on the corner of Touloose and Decatur.  If you anywhere near the New Orleans area, be sure to check out some of the events scheduled for this Mardi Gras season!  As I am beginning to learn, there is no after-New Year's holiday let-down in this city; New Orleans continues right along with Carnival season, curbing any post-holiday craving!
