New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Columns Hotel

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Columns Hotel

Happy Wedding Wednesday, brides!  Can you believe this is the last week of March?  Crazy!  I know, for me, the closer my wedding gets, the more unprepared I feel!  This past weekend, though, I happily said "Yes!" to the dress, so I am still basking in bridal gown bliss!  It's a good thing too, because my deadline for finding a gown was quickly approaching crunch time.  Definitely shop early if you can, ladies.  The amount of time it takes to get gowns in-store is ridiculous!

But enough ranting, here's another venue review for this fabulous Wednesday!

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

The Jaxson on the River

In honor of all you venue-searching brides, I thought I'd devote today's Wedding Wednesday to a venue review!  This post could really be titled Venue with a View: Part Deux, considering the location, which is- you guessed it- right next door to Pat O's on the River (check out my Patty O's review here).  As I've said before, this is an ideal location for brides in search of a riverfront, French Quarter location.  The views of the Mississippi and Jackson Square are unrivaled!

The Venue

The Jaxson on the River is a venue that I like to call a 'diamond in the rough.'  The space looks like it has amazing potential, however, it's hard to get a real feel for the place because it is still under construction.  Located at 620 Decatur Street (Unit 2B), the venue has a wide open floor plan with views of both Decatur Street and the Mississippi River.  Upon entering, the room opens up into a large, ballroom-esque space that stretches from the river dining room facing the Mississippi to the parlor dining room facing Decatur.  There is a large bar near the middle of the room, facing opposite a space that will be the foyer and sitting area complete lounge furniture.  There will also be a large room off of the parlor dining area that will be utilized as the bridal suite during wedding events.  A nice feature that the Jaxson will offer is a moveable room divider that will make the space more intimate for smaller events.

Wedding Wednesday: Classic Uptown Venue With Flair

Wedding Wednesday: Classic Uptown Venue With Flair

Happy Wedding Wednesday, NOLA Brides!  I hope everyone's week has been lovely so far!  My week has been filled with "to-do" lists as I am leaving the country on Friday for vacation!!  Yes, for two fabulous weeks, I will be exploring Australia with my family!  Unfortunately, that means I won't have much access to the internet, but I will do my best to update Instagram and this blog as much as possible.  I'm hoping I'll have a chance to check out a few bridal boutiques while I'm there (Essence of Australia, anyone??)!  And I'll be sure to share my experiences, if I do! Today, I'll be reviewing Rosy's Jazz Hall, located at 500 Valence Street, on the corner of Tchoupitoulas Street!  I know many NOLA brides (especially the destination ones), prefer their venues to be located in the French Quarter (and I'm no exception)!  However, venues outside the Quarter can be just as fabulous, less devastating to you pocketbook, and equally as beautiful.  Venues like these (South Port Music Hall*, Audubon Park*, City Park*~ reviews to come!) can be exactly what you're looking for, if you'll only give them the chance!

Hello Fellow Brides!!

Happy November, Internet!  I'm the Newly NOLA Bride and I'm here to share my experiences during this crazy thing called "Wedding Planning!" My reason for starting this blog:

I recently moved to New Orleans with my fiance and am planning a wedding for October of next year.  Being new to this city and to wedding planning, you can imagine how unprepared I feel (though, what bride doesn't feel a little overwhelmed at times, right?)!  However, while scouring "The Knot," "Wedding Wire," "Pinterest" and the like, I started to notice that not only were many 'brides-to-be' lost in the sea of information, but NOLA destination brides especially were overwhelmed and (usually) many miles away; some across the country!  While I have found a plethora of informative Instagram accounts (hashtag '#neworleansweddings' or anything similar and you will find amazing ideas, trust me) and community posts, I realized that nothing is quite as valuable as being able to see the venue in person.  It is my hope that the information I share with you all from my experiences will help at least a few brides out there-destination or not!  Please be patient with me though, as this is my first attempt at blogging!
