New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Columns Hotel

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Columns Hotel

Happy Wedding Wednesday, brides!  Can you believe this is the last week of March?  Crazy!  I know, for me, the closer my wedding gets, the more unprepared I feel!  This past weekend, though, I happily said "Yes!" to the dress, so I am still basking in bridal gown bliss!  It's a good thing too, because my deadline for finding a gown was quickly approaching crunch time.  Definitely shop early if you can, ladies.  The amount of time it takes to get gowns in-store is ridiculous!

But enough ranting, here's another venue review for this fabulous Wednesday!

E-Ring Part Deaux: Caring For Your Engagement Ring

E-Ring Part Deaux: Caring For Your Engagement Ring

This post is coming as a somewhat follow-up to last weeks article.  This is partly due to the fact that everyone should have a general idea on how to care for their engagement ring and partly due to the fact that I am extremely accident prone.  Read on...

In honor of St. Patrick's Day yesterday (happy belated ya'll), I decided I wanted to change my nail polish color to something super festive.  I.E. not just plain green, think green on steroids.  I saw this funky, awesome green polish on sale (should have been my first clue) and I thought, "Hey, why not! Let's get festive!"

Engagment Ring Insurance: Your First Priority After Getting Engaged

Engagment Ring Insurance: Your First Priority After Getting Engaged

Okay, ladies, I'm going to lay it all on the table today.  I want to talk about the single most important thing you need to do after getting engaged.  Hint:  Read the graphic.

GET ENGAGEMENT RING INSURANCE.

Though its certainly not the most romantic part of planning a wedding, it is definitely one of the most important parts of it.  Really guys, the most vital step to take after being given your gorgeous ring is to cover all your bases and get that baby insured!

Think about it.  An engagement ring is an investment in your life together with your future spouse.  It symbolizes love, commitment, and memories in the making.  On top of that, it is also (usually) a huge financial investment.  Regardless of if you know how much your S.O. spent on the ring or if you're keeping it a mystery, not protecting this beautiful symbol of your love is probably one of the foolish decisions you can make.

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

New Orleans Wedding Venue Review: The Jaxson On The River

The Jaxson on the River

In honor of all you venue-searching brides, I thought I'd devote today's Wedding Wednesday to a venue review!  This post could really be titled Venue with a View: Part Deux, considering the location, which is- you guessed it- right next door to Pat O's on the River (check out my Patty O's review here).  As I've said before, this is an ideal location for brides in search of a riverfront, French Quarter location.  The views of the Mississippi and Jackson Square are unrivaled!

The Venue

The Jaxson on the River is a venue that I like to call a 'diamond in the rough.'  The space looks like it has amazing potential, however, it's hard to get a real feel for the place because it is still under construction.  Located at 620 Decatur Street (Unit 2B), the venue has a wide open floor plan with views of both Decatur Street and the Mississippi River.  Upon entering, the room opens up into a large, ballroom-esque space that stretches from the river dining room facing the Mississippi to the parlor dining room facing Decatur.  There is a large bar near the middle of the room, facing opposite a space that will be the foyer and sitting area complete lounge furniture.  There will also be a large room off of the parlor dining area that will be utilized as the bridal suite during wedding events.  A nice feature that the Jaxson will offer is a moveable room divider that will make the space more intimate for smaller events.

Wedding Expo 101: 12 Tips On Getting The Most Out Of A Bridal Show

Wedding Expo 101: 12 Tips On Getting The Most Out Of A Bridal Show

Happy Wedding Wednesday, all!  On this cold, wet WW, I'd like to talk about bridal shows, and how to maximize your experience at one.  Mostly because the New Orleans Weddings Magazine's "Something Blue" Bridal Event is being held tonight at the Superdome and I am super-pumped!  (See what I did there?)

Anyway, I don't know about all of you, but this will be my very first bridal show experience as a bride, so I'm definitely trying to make a game plan on how to really get the most out of this event.  However, I'm not totally new to attending conventions.  And since I had a lot of experience with expos, both professionally and personally, I've learned a couple of tricks to getting the most bang for my buck.

Wedding Checklist: 3 Reasons Why You Need One

Wedding Checklist: 3 Reasons Why You Need One

Confession time: I've been MAJORLY slacking in the wedding planning department.  As in, I needed a DJ/Band like yesterday.

Okay, maybe not that bad, but I really haven't made any huge vendor decisions since I left for Australia...in JanuaryYikes.

Maybe it was just the excitement of going to Aussie, then coming home and celebrating Mardi Gras, all while throwing myself into full-time job search mode?  I don't know.  But whatever it is needs to stop, because it has thrown me into a somewhat indecisive state.  And that's a scary place for any bride.

That's why my goal for this week was to create and share with you the wedding timeline checklist that I've been using.  I know that sharing something to help keep you all organized for your wedding is just the motivation I need to keep up on mine!  Sadly, my main goal for this wedding (besides marrying my love) was to be as organized as possible.  I didn't really want a week or two to slide by without me having done something wedding related.  And, well, aside from browsing Instagram and Pinterest for ideas, that's exactly what has happened.  <insert obligatory sad face>

Wedding Wednesday: Luck of the Irish

Wedding Wednesday: Luck of the Irish

Happy Wedding Wednesday, Friends!  I'm here with a venue review about the Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans located off of Conti Street (one block from Bourbon for all you brides looking to host a wild after party!).  The museum is home to a variety of informational exhibits and displays about Irish heritage and culture in New Orleans, and is situated in a charming French Quarter venue complete with courtyard.  Also doubling as a prime venue location, their incredibly inclusive wedding packages made the Irish Cultural Museum (ICM) number two on the list of possible venues for this bride!  Read on for more information! Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans

The Venue Space

The ICM facility (933 Conti Street) is adorned with beautiful, vintage architecture, brick walls, and an upper balcony overlooking the courtyard.  A front room off the street offers interactive kiosks and historical Irish artifacts, and also doubles as the bridal suite during ceremonies and receptions.  Outside of the front room is the courtyard, which reaches across to the back building that has two levels.  There is a beautiful staircase leading to the upper level room with a balcony, which can be used as the bridal entrance during your event.  The upstairs also has artifacts, and televisions for use as well. The downstairs has more historical pieces, as well as a research library, and is utilized for the buffet space during receptions.

NNB: Back from Aussie, "Twitterfied," and Ready to Jump In!

It sounds so cliche, but traveling really takes it out of you.  I'm sure you've all heard the phrase, "I need a vacation from my vacation," but boy, that couldn't be more true for this NOLA bride!  Australia was a blast, though, and we were able to see and do a lot of things on our bucket list- Sydney and the Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, the Australian Zoo, Surfer's Paradise, etc.  Overall, if you are ever able to, I highly recommend making the trip Down Under- it is well worth it! Back to the grind.....I will be posting my next Wedding Wednesday (a venue review about the Irish Cultural Museum off of Conti Street), but before I delve into the juice, I wanted to share a little something with you.
